Working at Rubin Lewis O’Brien – Nia Parry, Legal Assistant.

I joined RLO in July 2021 as a Residential Conveyancing Legal Assistant when I was completing my Masters at Swansea University, and have obtained a Master of Law in Legal Practice and Advanced Drafting. The degree combined the Legal Practice Course with an Advanced Drafting module. To complete the Advanced Drafting module, I had to submit a project on a topic of my choice, and I submitted a project titled A Guidance Note to Clients on Leasehold Property in England and Wales. RLO were extremely supportive throughout my exam period and drafting project deadline month, which helped me to balance my studies and my work well. I was fortunate to attend an in-person graduation in December after I had achieved my Masters degree at Merit.

My role at RLO has allowed me to put what I have learnt at university into practice, and I feel that I am developing well in my role and the conveyancing process with our clients. House moves are not always straight forward but myself and the team around me strive to make the process as easy as possible. I have gained experience in various types of property transactions including sale, purchases, transfers of equity and re-mortgages in relation to both freehold and leasehold properties as well as new build properties. I have a great team around me, and I am well supported by them. The department as a whole work together and help each other where needed.

In the future, I would love to progress my role as Property Solicitor at RLO dealing with both residential and commercial matters. There are great progression opportunities within the firm and a great support system to bring the best out of you. I plan to continue developing my knowledge and learning from my colleagues.

Outside of work, you’ll either find me with friends, at the gym of freezing on the side of a football pitch.
