Progressing Your Career at Rubin Lewis O’Brien: Lucy Itani’s Journey

Embarking on a career in law can be both challenging and rewarding. For me, the path towards professional growth began in 2012 when I graduated from the University of South Wales with a degree in Sociology with Criminology. Little did I know that my journey would lead me to Rubin Lewis O’Brien, a law firm where I would not only discover my passion for law but also carve a path towards personal and professional development.

I had the opportunity to gain extended work experience at Rubin Lewis O’Brien. During my time there, I was exposed to various areas of law, but it was family law that resonated with me the most. It was a natural choice for me to accept a position as a Paralegal at Rubin Lewis O’Brien in October 2012, and since then, I have been a part of the family department.

While working as a Paralegal, I recognised the importance of continuous learning and professional development in the legal field. In 2016, I made the decision to pursue my CILEX (Chartered Institute of Legal Executives) qualification. Balancing work, personal commitments, and studying wasn’t always easy, as over the course of seven years, I got married and had two children.

Finally, in March 2023, I passed my final exam and achieved my goal of becoming a graduate member of CILEX. This milestone not only validated my expertise but also opened doors for further advancement within my career, as I have now taken on some files of my own.

Currently, I hold the role of a fee earner within the Family department at Rubin Lewis O’Brien. My specialisation lies in private children matters and Public Law Proceedings. Every day, I strive to provide exceptional client care and support individuals during their most challenging life circumstances. Rubin Lewis O’Brien has provided me with a platform to not only excel in my chosen area of law but also make a meaningful difference in the lives of my clients.

My journey at Rubin Lewis O’Brien is a testament to the opportunities and growth that can be achieved within a law firm committed to supporting its employees’ professional development. From starting as a Paralegal to becoming a CILEX graduate and fee earner in the Family department, I have experienced first-hand how dedication, perseverance, and a supportive work environment can propel one’s career forward.

If you’re looking to progress your career in the legal field, consider joining a firm like Rubin Lewis O’Brien that values its employees and encourages continuous learning. By investing in your professional development, you can unlock new opportunities, enhance your expertise, and make a positive impact on the lives of those you serve.
